Jonathan takes us back to a pivotal moment in the history of hip hop. The book chronicles the legendary rap battle between Cold Crush Bros and Fantastic Romantic Five, which took place at Harlem World Club in 1981. The stakes were high, with a $1000 prize for the winner. Mael’s book provides a micro-history of this momentous event and its impact on the music industry.
Jonathan Mael is a high school teacher and reporter who has written for several publications, including The Boston Globe, The Boston Herald, and ESPN.
